Inflorescences arising below the leaves, amongst the leaf bases; peduncle stout, two thirds covered in sheaths, 2 cm long; bract tubular, 8 mm long; pedicel with ovary 3-3.5 cm long. Flowers white, small and sometimes not opening fully; dorsal sepal triangular, widest near the base, tip curving forward; lateral sepals falcate, narrower and longer than dorsal sepal; petals narrow, slightly curved, as long as the lateral sepals; lip slightly narrowed below and bearing a central keel, lanceolate above the base; spur curved, close to the ovary, ca. 8 mm long.
Habitat:
Epiphyte in evergreen forests; 700-1500 m; flowering November to February.
Cultivation:
As given for the genus, warm to cool growing monopodial epiphyte.
Notes:
The identity of this plant has been confused in the literature with Angraecum borbonicum. We have followed Summerhayes (1951c) and Bosser (1988) in our use of it here. The species is well illustrated in Benke (2004).
Distribution:
Mascarenes
