Description:
Species belonging to the genus Sobennikoffia are terrestrial, semi-terrestrial, lithophytic, or epiphytic. The flowers are quite large, white or greenish in color, and appear on many-flowered a continuation of the lip.

It was named by Rudolf Schlechter in 1925 for his wife, whose maiden name was Sobennikoff.
