Description:

Velamen of Calanthe type. Leafy shrubs or vines. Leaves often net-veined. Seeds of Vanilla or Galeola types. Column partially united with the lip margins. Clinandrium spacious. Rostellum bent down, partially hiding the stigmatic surface. A subtribe consisting of five genera including Clematepistephium Hane, Dictyophyllaria Garay, Epistephium Kunth, Eriaxis Reichenb. f. and Vanilla Mill.
