Angraecum section Conchoglossum Schltr.
Description:
Inflorescence one-flowered. Peduncle quite short, normally shorter than the internodes, covered only at the bases with one or two adpressed, but not compressed sheaths. Flowers mostly small or very rarely medium sized. Ovary terete. Spur of lip as long as the ovary or commonly shorter, very rarely somewhat surpassing it.

This section must be typified by A. viride Kraenzl. because the remaining species originally listed by Schlechter have been removed to other sections. Schlechter completely ignored Sect.Conchoglossum in his 1925 study, but Summerhayes reinstated it to accommodate several of the continental African species. The plants belonging to this section often exhibit intervallate inflorescences, i.e., producing peduncles in succession from the same node.

Type: Angraecum viride Kraenzl.
