Bulbophyllum ikongoense H.Perrier, Notul. Syst. (Paris) 6: 70 (1937).
Description:
Plants 15-20 cm tall; rhizome 3-5 mm in diameter; pseudobulbs 3-4 cm apart, narrow and elongated (4-6 cm x 8-10 mm), of a pale yellow and 4 winged, the youngest enveloped by the scarious, thin, acute and keeled-winged dorsally sheaths. Leaves narrowly oblanceolate (12-15 cm x 8-11 mm), very longly attenuate-petiolate from the apex to the base. Inflorescence not longer than the leaves; peduncie 10-15 cm tall, bearing 6-7 distant, large, acute, keeled-winged marginally sheaths; rachis reclining heavily, 4-5- 6 cm long, slightly dense, many flowered and thicker than the apex of the peduncie; bracts acute, slightly shorter than the flower; flowers glabrous, striate with brown and generally 5 mm long. Median sepal obovate-lanceolate (3 x 1.2 mm), acute and with 3 veins projecting behind; laterals of the same length, 3 veined, keeled exteriorly, their keels running to the pedicel. Petals lanceolate-linear (1.1 x 0.3 mm) and subacute. Labellum very small (1 x 1mm), very pleated, 5 lobed-obtuse, lobes provided basally with a very obtuse, ornate, narrow and transverSe callus. Column very short (0.8 mm), thicker basally than tall; slightly attenuate toward the apex, front margins straight; foot short; stelides nearly absent. Anther much longer than wide (0.9 x 0.4 mm), obtuse apically. Pedicel obconnical, with 2 nearly winged keels, generally 2.5 mm long.

Notes:
This species at least in part, with its sepals like those of Poliarium, but free, and with the labellum and anther of a very distinct form makes this species easily distinguishable from the other in our flora.
Distribution:
SE. Madagascar
