Description:
Plant 1–3 ft. high, with stout leafy stems; leaves linear-oblong or somewhat elongate, acute or subacute, somewhat coriaceous, 2 1/2–8 in. long, 1/2– 3/4 in. broad, gradually decreasing upwards into imbricating sheaths; racemes oblong or elongate, 3–9 in. long, dense, many-flowered; bracts lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, acute or acuminate, 1/2–1 in. long; pedicels 3/4–1 in. long; flowers white or green and white; dorsal sepal elliptic-oblong, obtuse, 3–3 1/2 lin. long; lateral sepals broadly and obliquely semiovate, obtusely apiculate, 3–3 1/2 lin. long; petals 2-partite; upper lobe linear or lanceolate-linear, acute or subacute, as long as the dorsal sepal; lower lobe broadly ovate, obtuse, three to five times as broad as the upper lobe; lip 3-partite; lobes 4–5 lin. long, the front lobe linear, straight, the lateral pair broader and diverging; spur linear, somewhat curved, 1–1 1/2 in. long, slightly thickened near the apex; column 2 lin. long, obtuse; side lobes of rostellum 1 lin. long; stigmas 1 1/2 lin. long, broadly clavate; capsule oblong, 1/2– 3/4 in. long.
