Description:
Large plants forming dense clumps, terrestrial; rhizome thick (1.8 cm generally), pseudobulbs bare, green, with 5-6 angles, connical (8-12 x 5-6 cm), with 2, rarely 3 persistent leaves, new bulb developing prior to the inflorescence. Leave widely linear (30-50 x 1.5-3 cm), thick, coriaceous, contracted basally into a slightly distinct petiole, wide and long (2-3 cm), limbus dark green maculate with whitish; articulation with the sheath oblique and irregularly dentate, 3-5 cm above the base. Scape 1.20 m -.1.50 m tall, upright; peduncle twice as long as the raceme, bearing 7-8 short, appressed sheaths near the base, then longer and more distant; panicle loose, bicomposite basally, 20-40 flowered; bracts 3-4 mm long, one-fifth the length of the pedicel; flowers yellowish, maculate and lined with red. Sepals elongated, spatulate-obtuse, the median short (10-12 x 5 mm), obtuse and slightly unequaliteral basally. Labellum (11-16 x 10- 12 mm), 4-lobed; inferior lobes marginal (4 x 6 mm), upright, slightly angled apically; apical lobes flat and diverging. wider (6 mm.) than long (4 mm); provided basally with 3 projecting, denticulate keels, spur connical, obtuse, 3-4 mm long. Column curved apically, 4mm. long. Pedicel 2-2.5 cm long.
Habitat:
In dry moss and lichen forest with sandy or rocky soils at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters.

Flowing in November-April.
