Description:
A creeping dwarf epiphytic orchid not exceeding 1 cm in height. Pseudobulbs prostrate, elongate-clavate to rhizomatous, up to 2-3 cm long and 0.3-0.4 cm wide, with 2 leaves. Leaves elliptic to ovate, succulent, rounded and slightly emarginate at apex, 1.2-1.4 x 0.7-0.8 cm. Inflorescence 1-flowered, between leaves on very short peduncle. Bract membranaceous, acuminate, 0.2 x 0.15 cm. Flower entirely orange-red, sepals and petals incurved towards a small mouth, hardly opening, up to 0.7 cm long, dorsal sepal oblong-ligulate, 0.6 x 0.15 cm, acuminate, lateral sepals oblong, acuminate, up to 0.45-0.55 cm long, united for about 0.35-0.4 cm forming a saccate spur-like mentum, free sepals 0.1-0.2 x 0.15 cm, petals falcate, lanceolate, 0.5 x 0.2 cm, acuminate, lip tongue-like, 0.3 x 1.5 cm, with papillate callus at base.

This species is dedicated to Sibylle KALKHOFROSE, honorary member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature, Mainz.
Habitat:
Upper montane forest, 2500-2700 m.
Flowering season:
September to November.
