Description:
Perennial herb 25-40 cm high. Leaves 2, unequal, basal, elliptic to reniform, 4 cm long, 6 cm wide, sparsely hairy on the upper surface and with more hairs along the margin. Inflorescence erect, hairy, lacking sheaths. Flowers white, tinged with rose or pale mauve, secund; sepals ovate or elliptic-ovate, acute, 4-5 mm long, slightly hairy; petals wedgeshaped, 10 mm long, 4-6-lobed in the upper half, glabrous; lip broadly fan-shaped, 10 mm long, 9-13-lobed in the upper third, glabrous, spur cylindrical, straight, 3 mm long.
Habitat:
Known only from the grasslands on the upper slopes of Mt Elgon; 3300-3700 m; flowering in December.
Distribution:
Mt. Elgon of Uganda and Kenya
