Description:
An erect slender herb, all parts, the flower excepted, pilose 15-25 cm. high; leaf flat on the ground, withering during the flowering period, orbicular, 2-3 cm. in diam.; scape straight, 1- or very rarely 2 fl., flowers horizontal ; bracts cucullate ovate obtuse apiculate, as long as the pedicels; sepals finally reflexed, linear lanceolate acute, connate at base forming a semi-tubular process, 1,2-1 ,4 cm. long; petals erect, oblong-falcate obtuse, a little longer than the sepals; lip spreading, with the spur 4-4,5 cm. long, almost orbicular in outline, obscurely 3 lobed, lobes multisect, the segments spreading-incurved, dilated at the apex into flattened cushion-like processes, the spur acute, 0,6-l,l cm. long ; anther erect oblong acute, the cells twisted, connective produced at the apex; pollinia oblong, the caudicles linear rigid; glands scarcely protruded at base, placed above the narrow passage leading to the stigma ; stigma ovoid, at the apex of the ovary; ovary curved, with the pedicel 2 cm. long.
Habitat:
In sandy places amongst scrub from sea level to 1800 meters.

SW. Namibia to Cape Prov.
