Description:

Distinguished by having a robust habit and densely imbricate leaves, a dense many-flowered inflorescence with bracts much longer than the flowers, and a ligulate-oblong or obovate epichile about twice as long as wide, rather fleshy with crisped margins and a ± truncate apex.
Habitat:

Grassy savanna, and dry sandy dambos 1300–1400 m.
