Description:
Robust epiphytic plants, forming large clumps. Stems 30–80 cm long, the lower part covered with old sheathing leaf bases. Leaves distichous, 10–13 × 1.5–2 cm, oblong-ligulate, obtusely 2-lobed at the apex, dark green. Inflorescences single-flowered; flowers c. 3 cm in diameter, white with a green spur and brown anther cap, scented at night. Pedicel and ovary 2.5–3 cm long, slender, curved. Dorsal sepal 15–16 × 6 mm, ovate-elliptic, obtuse, erect; lateral sepals 17 × 4 mm, oblong-ligulate, obtuse. Petals 14–15 × 2.5–3 mm, linear-spathulate or linear-ligulate, obtuse. Lip 16–17 × 6 mm, rhombic, recurved, channelled, carinate towards the base; spur 8–9 cm long, slender, geniculate, sometimes with a single coil. Column 4 mm long with 2 triangular stelidia.
Habitat:
Montane and submontane forest 1600–2000 m.
Cultivation:
As given for the genus, cool to cold growing epiphyte.
