Tridactyle trimikeorum Dare, Excelsa 19: 84 (1999).
Description:
This species was described in 1999. It is said to be close to Tridactyle inaequilonga, from which it differs in its smaller stature and erect, never pendent habit with stems up to 12 cm long. The leaves are stiffer and smaller in size. The sepals are expanded and united at the base to form a sheath for the spur, and the petals are only 2.5 mm long.
Etymology:
The specific epithet is derived from the name of the 3 discoverers of this new species, Mike Dare, Mike Kimberley, and Mike Timm.
Habitat:
Epiphyte in mid-canopy in Brachystegia woodland and lithophytic on boulders in exposed situations; 1600 m; flowering October to November. Zimbabwe (Mount Buhwa).
