Description:
Herbs generally 40-60 cm tall: roots villous; stem bearing 8 leaves, petiolate (petiole 3-4 cm. long), elliptical, lanceolate (6.2 10 x I .8-2.2 cm.) and acute, then with several distant, hispid-glandular sheaths at the apex. Inflorescence dense, often more than 20 flowered; bracts slightly longer than the flower, villous-glandular, flowers with their exteriors slightly puberulent-glandular. Sepals translucid, concave, oval-obtuse, the median 1 veined and smaller (3.5 x 2.2 mm) than the laterals (4.5 x 2.4 mm) 3 veined. Petals oblanceolate (4 x 0.8 mm,), hyaline and 1 veined. Labellum (3.2 mm.) very concave, 3 veined (veins very obvious), provided exteriorly with 2 crests of verrucosites, glabrous and without a callus behind, sub-trilobed in the apical third, the lateral lobules very flat, median lobule slightly wider than tall (1.2 x 1.6 mm), contracted in a very short unguis and very narrow basally and apiculate apically. Anther small (2 x 1.3 mm), viscidiums narrow and acute. Lamina of the rostellum bidentate apically. Stigmas in 2 distinct cushions. Ovary generally 6 mm. long, puberulent-glandular.
Habitat:
In humid evergreen forests at elevations of 500 to 1200 meters.
