Description:
Plants generally 40 cm tall, roots verrucose, pseudobulbs ovoid (2.5-3 x 1-1.7 cm), slightly compressed with a single leaf. Leaf very shortly, petiolate, auriculate very near the base, elliptical (10-12 x 5 cm generally), widest medially, and equally attenuate toward both ends, thick, coriaceous and flat. Inflorescence from the base of the previously developed pseudobulb, peduncle clad with several, distant sheaths; raceme 6-10 flowered; bracts lanceolate, nearly equal to the length of the pedicel; flowers 16-26 mm long, yellow with the labellum striped and tinted with dark red. Median sepal and petals narrowly oval-obtuse, the median sepal thick; lateral sepals slightly shorter and sickle shaped. Labellum nearly orbicular (contour), trilobed in the apical third, the lateral lobes marginal and obtuse, the median obreniform, emarginate and apiculate medially; provided basally in front of the spur oriface with 2 lamellas, curved and crossing; spur thick and obtuse apically, slightly attenuate toward the oriface which is 2.5-3 mm wide. Column curved apically. Pedicel 8 mm long.
Habitat:
Terrestrial, from humid forest, from 100 m alt.
Phenology:
Flowering in January-March.
